The theatre marked its 20th anniversary with the theme “Le fabuleux destin du Cinéma Beaubien,” in honour of the first movie it screened when it opened, “Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulin,” aka “Amélie” to English-language moviegoers.

For the occasion, Basalte developed a compelling visual identity featuring the movie theatre’s iconic marquee, fun, colourful, and so beloved by Montreal and Quebec film buffs. An animated version was screened at the beginning of every movie shown during the 20th anniversary year. The image was also featured on the label of a beer brewed specifically for the occasion, in collaboration with Brasserie Mellön.
